H. Jennings Sheffield - UTSA MFA exhibition last night

H. Jennings Sheffield showed her thesis work, Tethered, at the Blue Star Gallery in San Antonio. Amazing and smart work that slices the days and demands of one''s life into a linear, layered  mosaic. 43" x 28" pigment prints dominate the first gallery. She also has an installation of three videos in the smaller gallery that combine the sounds of an active day to add yet another layer. Compelling work, I hope you get to see it.

Gissette Padilla's thesis work shared the Blue Star and complemented Sheffield's work. Padilla's work, All That I Remember, combined imagery and process to present large paintings, monotypes and woodcuts.

Both women presented work that was highly personal, each searching their own lives to connect with others.
